With the aim of protecting aquatic life, all surface water bodies, natural or artificial, permanent or temporary are to be considered relevant for the implementation of mitigation measures to reduce the risk from PPP, with the following exceptions:
1) ditches, drains and other artificial hydraulic structures in cultivated fields, for collecting and conveying excess rainfall water, without their own water and with water present only temporarily;
2) water adductors for irrigation: water bodies whose waters are used only in cultivated fields;
3) water bodies in which the height of the bottom is at least 1 m higher than the treated crop.
The flooded rice fields are not among these water bodies, since must respect specific assessment and environmental protection procedures.
